Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) takes place inside a chamber that is pressurized to higher than normal atmospheric pressure, making it one of the most effective methods of delivering oxygen to the your cells. While you relax in the hyperbaric chamber, you are supplying your body with a massive influx of oxygen signaling the DNA in our cells to perform healing tasks that the body normally can’t do.

Oxygen is delivered to the cells via the hemoglobin in red blood cells. Pressurized oxygen is dissolved in your body’s fluids and transported to all tissues, even those with poor circulation, reviving the mitochondria in your neurons. Healthy mitochondria are essential because they produce ATP (adenosine triphosphate) our primary energy supply. Consequently, the mitochondria consume the majority of our cellular oxygen in exchange for the massive amounts of ATP they must produce. Anytime your muscles move, a thought runs through your brain, you sweat, salivate or look at something; billions of ATP are consumed to power the process.

What can I expect at my first treatment?

You will relax in the hyperbaric chamber for about an hour, during which you may listen to music, read, or just relax. You will need to wear comfortable all cotton clothing such as sweats or shorts, a t-shirt and socks. Treatments take about an hour so please make sure that you are fed, hydrated and have used the facilities prior to starting the treatment.

While the chamber pressurizes you may notice pressure in the ears, similar to that of an airplane taking off or landing, but there is no other discomfort. We will show you techniques on how to relieve this pressure to minimize any discomfort.

What conditions does HBOT treat?

In addition to supplying the mitochondria with much needed oxygen, HBOT also enhances the body’s ability to fight infection, increases red blood cells, promotes the growth of collagen, helps the body build new connective tissue, optimizes sports performance, kills certain types of bacteria and fungus, decreases inflammation and allergy symptoms.
